Register for Summer Reading Programs

Summer is coming, full S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) ahead! School will soon be out for the summer, which means there will be plenty of time for reading. Once again, children of all ages and their families are invited to participate in the summer reading program at Cherry Valley Public Library. Our theme this summer is Reading by Design.
Even the smallest of books can build the greatest of minds! In addition to reading great books, library patrons can participate in exciting programs that cover a wide variety of topics and interests. We've lined up fascinating presentations, crafts, and story times so that people of all ages will have something to interest them going on at the library.
The summer reading program is simple: read books and earn prizes! Program registration begins on Tuesday, May 30. Stop by the library to register and sign up for any of the events you would like to attend. Continue to drop in each week to record your books and collect a prize. Children and teens who complete their reading goal by July 29 will receive a ticket to a final party at the Northeast Family YMCA.
As always, library programs are FREE*. For more details, please call the library at 815-332-5161. The last day to register for summer reading is July 1.
Along with reading for prizes, all ages can enjoy the activities we have planned for this year's summer reading program. See pages 2-5 for youth and teen programs and pages 6-8 for adult programs.

*The summer reading program is free for everyone with a Cherry Valley Public Library card. The summer program fee for families with a card from another public library is $10/child or $25/family. Families who live in an area unserved by a public library need to purchase a non-resident card in order to participate in the library's summer programs. The six month installment fee is $77.50, which is the average amount paid by Cherry Valley residents in their property taxes. Purchasing this library card will allow your family to participate in summer programs for free.
