Local Democratic Candidates Take Time Out from Campaigning to Work Clothing Recycling Drives

ROCKFORD, IL – Local Democratic candidates John Nelson, Angelique Bodine, Tricia Sweeney and David Soll are taking time off from campaigning to volunteer for the Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful (KNIB) Clothing Recycling Drive being held at various locations Saturday, July 9.

John Nelson, candidate for Winnebago County Board Chairman; Angelique Bodine, candidate for State Representative, 69th District; Tricia Sweeney, candidate for State Representative, 68th District, and David Soll, candidate for Winnebago County Board Member District 17 have turned in their campaign walking shoes for work gloves to volunteer for the annual KNIB Summer Clothing Drive, being held at eight Rockford area Schnucks Markets and the Belvidere Township Building Saturday, July 9, 2016.

Nelson has signed up at the E. State Street Rockford Schnucks, Bodine at the Roscoe Schnucks, and Sweeney and Soll are volunteering at the Loves Park Schnucks. All declined to make campaign statements as these are not campaign events but nonpartisan, nonprofit, community-focused volunteer events.

Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful (KNIB) is a private, non-governmental, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to educating and involving individuals in productive solutions that care for our stateline community environment. KNIB has collected more than 3.6 million pounds of clothing since 1999, with the recycled items being distributed in the U.S. and developing countries or repurposed into fiberfill products.

Nelson, Bodine, Sweeney, and Soll encourage residents to recycle unwanted clothes and remind residents that there are many volunteer opportunities at KNIB recycling drives and recycling centers throughout the year. Please visit http://www.knib.org to learn more about these volunteer opportunities.
