Basketball sign-up still open
Register until game day for 5th annual HoopStars tournament

ROCKFORD – State Senator Steve Stadelman announced today that he is accepting online registrations through game day for his popular basketball tournament, being played for the first time at UW Health Sports Factory.

There is no cost to enter for boys and girls in 3rd through 8th grades. Sign up at www.senatorstadelman.com/hoopstars. Doors open at noon and games begin at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 4.

Now in its 5th year, Senator Stadelman's HoopStars has drawn as many as 400 players in 3rd- through 8th-grades. Every player receives free commemorative event T-shirts, and winning teams take home medals.

HoopStars is moving from Davis Park, where Labor Day competition took place outdoors on 10 makeshift courts. With 16 courts now available, shorter waits are expected in the single-elimination, two-game-minimum format. Players will face off in air-condition comfort, and parents will find parking much easier, among other advantages of the new location.
