Wallace Statement on Signing of Historic River Edge Tax Credit Extension

ROCKFORD, Ill. – State Rep. Litesa Wallace, D-Rockford, released the following statement in response to Friday's signing of an extension of the Historic River Edge Tax Credit:

"Today is an important day for the continued development and economic reinvestment in downtown Rockford. The Historic River Edge Tax Credit has been instrumental in starting construction projects, creating jobs and transforming empty buildings into centers of activity.

"With numerous projects dependent on the passage of this extension, today's action immediately makes our community more attractive to investment. We have seen projects like the Prairie Street Brewhouse and Burnham Lofts revitalize entire blocks of our city, and I look forward to seeing other parts of our downtown district reach their full potential.

"I want to thank state Sen. Steve Stadelman, Rockford Mayor Tom McNamara, labor leaders and the many dedicated advocates who helped to make today a reality. The future of downtown Rockford is bright, and it just got a little brighter."
